RE and Catholic Life Policy
At St. Patrick and St. Edmund’s, our Catholic faith is at the heart of everything we do. Religious Education is taught in accordance with the doctrine of the Catholic Church, but our ethos of love, respect, and care runs across the whole curriculum — not just during RE lessons.
Our Religious Education Programme
We follow the 'Learning and Growing as the People of God' curriculum, which is used in all Catholic schools within the Archdiocese of Birmingham.
As part of our daily life, children take part in:
- Daily Acts of Worship
- Dedicated RE lessons
- School Assemblies led by the Headteacher, Deputy Head, and staff
- Class Assemblies (parents are warmly invited to attend)
- Class and School Masses (parents are always welcome to join us)
Sacramental Preparation
Catholic children are supported in preparing to receive the Sacraments:
- Reconciliation (Confession) – Year 3
- First Holy Communion – Year 3
- Confirmation – Year 6
Parental Rights
We understand that parents have the right to withdraw their children from Religious Education and Acts of Worship. If you wish to discuss this, please arrange a meeting with the Headteacher to make suitable arrangements.
We are proud of our inclusive and faith-filled community and welcome all families to join us on their spiritual journey.
